Greetings from the desk of Don Hicks...  

I am proud to announce that AeA and ITAA merged as of January 1, 2009 to form The Technology Association of America. This merger is going to mean better leveraged representation for the technology industry and enhanced business services for our members. We have some exciting announcements coming and we will highlight the growing list of benefits in coming newsletters. We will continue wearing the AeA badge for a couple of weeks as the associations integrate.

The cornerstone of The Technology Association of America will be our "grassroots to global" initiatives that form Innovation Now our technology agenda for America. To remain competitive in the 21st century, our nation must transform itself and create an innovation economy. We are calling upon our nation's leaders and the technology community to take actions on the following Innovation Now agenda items:

Health - Invest in innovative health information technologies that will transform health care quality, reduce medical errors, and make health care more accessible to our citizens by reducing health care costs.

Jobs, Education, and Training - Ensure a competitive 21st century workforce through comprehensive education reform and initiatives to strengthen lifelong learning opportunities.

Government Management - Improve overall government effectiveness through the adoption of innovative technologies and by ensuring that the government attracts and retains qualified personnel.

National Security - Ensure that the men and women on our nation's armed forces are equipped with the latest and highest quality technology in a timely fashion.

Homeland Security - Support innovative technology solutions that play a critical role in securing the homeland while safeguarding personal privacy

Green - Promote the use of technology-based solutions as a means toward solving our nation's energy challenge and contributing to practical strategies for mitigating climate change.

Research and Development - Enact tax and incentive policies that will increase private sector investment in R&D.

Cyber Security - Protect our nation's technology infrastructure and ensure that citizens are shielded from cyber hackers and attackers.

Immigration - Strengthen our economy by fixing America's broken skilled immigration system.

Broadband - Meet our nation's broadband challenge through innovative solutions that will make this technology available to all Americans.

Trade - Implement an innovation-based national trade policy.

Patent Reform - Enact meaningful patent reform that will drive innovation.

We have been aggressively acting on many of these initiatives as a local council of AeA. Now, as The Technology Association of America, we will broaden our local initiatives and link into our national and international resources.

If you believe the Innovation Now technology agenda for America is important, we could use your help in taking action from grassroots to global.

AeA Member & WunderMarx Chief Executive Officer Cara Good speaking at Comerica Banks Women’s Business Symposium

WunderMarx Co-founder and CEO, Cara Good, will be speaking at the Comerica Bank Women’s Business Symposium on Friday, March 27. The conference is designed to help attendees master business potential with special emphasis on internet growth, strategies and tactics, and personal decisions that affect success.

As an expert in social media marketing, Cara Good will discuss social and virtual marketing as well as effective blogging. AeA Offers FREE Information Technology Training
Thanks to a second round of funding in the amount of $603,664 by the California Employment Training Panel (ETP), AeA, the nation’s largest high-tech trade association representing all segments of the high-tech industry, will once again partner with Saisoft, Inc. to deliver fully subsidized, state-funded IT training for qualified technology employees in California. The funds from the first round of funding approved in March 2008 for $604,800 will be exhausted by the end of November. To date, 426 California employees representing 201 companies have received free IT training under this program...read more
