Week of Dec. 1, 2008 Volume I: Issue XII |

Greetings
from
the desk of Don Hicks...
Nothing better than sending pictures of our Thanksgiving dinner next to
the pool to our friends and family back east.
Here are a couple of short-notice
announcements that I feel are important:
H.E.A.R.T 2008 - Partying
for a cause
'Tis the season to be merry and the season for giving. We are combining
the two with our holiday party this Wednesday evening. Promoted by AeA,
TechBiz Connection, Tech Coast Venture Network, and the Association for
Women in Technology, the annual H.E.A.R.T. holiday party has always been a
premier networking opportunity and a fun-filled holiday treat. This year
the fun is for a cause. The net proceeds for Wednesday night's party is
going to Laura's House, a local charity addressing the problem of domestic
violence in Orange County. The party is at the Wyndham Hotel, 3340 Avenue
of the Arts in Costa Mesa starting at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3rd.
Lampshades optional. For more information, please click
here.
CeBIT 2009
Hanover Fairs, promoters of CeBIT 2009, will be hosting a breakfast
meeting on Wednesday morning, December 3 at the Irvine Marriott to discuss
the special programs they are offering California companies. The March

the technology industry with more than 500,000 attendees/buyers and 7,000
members of the press. California has been selected the official partner
state for CeBIT 2009, which will provide additional benefits and
opportunities for California companies participating at CeBIT 2009. If you
would like to learn about the European market, economical turnkey exhibit
packages, speaking opportunities, and subsidy funding for California
companies, you should contact Traci
Paredes (tparedes@hfusa.com) for more information and register for the
Wednesday morning presentation.
The All-American Boys Chorus presented
by the British American Business Council

Business Council is hosting a luncheon at the Hilton in Costa Mesa

Legislative Update
An increasing number of "activist" state
legislatures are embracing issues that have traditionally been federal in
nature, including Internet regulation and telecommunications. Areas such
as Internet sales taxes, broadband deployment, data privacy and the
banning of hazardous materials are all in play, and these efforts have by
and large been aimed at the high-tech industry.
AeA realizes that the ability to project
force and influence policy at the state legislative and regulatory level
is more important than ever to the high-tech industry if it is to thrive
and survive. AeA is the only high-tech trade association with the ability
to protect your interests comprehensively at the state level.
AeA's state government affairs is
member-driven, our policy committees actively monitor and impact
legislation in a number of critical issue areas important to the IT
community.

Program please visit our website at
