Greetings from the desk of Don Hicks...

Its spring and time again for the
TechAmerica 16th Annual High-Tech Innovation Awards Dinner when we celebrate innovation and recognize the best of the local technology community. The event of the year for the Orange County technology community is on the calendar for Thursday, May 14 at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa. Please stay tuned as we reveal the finalists Thursday, April 16th!

In addition to shining the spotlight on innovation, our committees are working to prepare programs that deliver important resources, information, peer-to-peer interaction, best practices, research, and access to domestic and international business opportunities.

Our Growth Matters initiative will present Finding New Customers & New Revenue: What you NEED to know about SBA and Government Procurement. If you're looking for the silver lining during this economy, follow the money and learn how SBA can connect you directly, or through larger companies, to government contracts.

Another way to "thrive" in this economy is to expand your market share globally. Two of our TechAmerica Orange County members (Charlie Sundling, CEO, Pipeline Software; and Vicki Burkhard, Burkhard Consulting) will share best practices during case studies highlighting how they've expanded their businesses internationally to remain successful during Global Connect Increasing Sales & Market Share In Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

The smell of optimism and enthusiasm is in the air! Please scroll below for more upcoming events details, and make sure to see the latest developments on our new website: TechAmerica.org! I look forward to seeing you at one of these exciting events as we drive innovation worldwide.

Warmest Regards,

Don Hicks

June 24, 2009 - Join fellow Product Managers As TechAmerica Orange County Prepares to Launch Premier Roundtable Series

Tough times present opportunities that otherwise are not available. The current economic environment is just one such opportunity. Do you know what is common between Apple, Google, Microsoft, HP, GE, Hyatt, BurgerKing, CNN, and LexisNexis? These companies were formed during tough economic recessions.

We can expect to witness other breakthrough ideas coming to fruition during this period of tough economic times. Opportunity is knocking at our door step.  Who is best prepared to respond? Are you?

Thriving in this environment will only happen for those firms who truly embrace a commitment to product innovation based on customer value and that is driven by a number of dynamics which include: changing customer expectations, increasing global competition across all market sectors, and shortened product life-cycles due to rapid advancements in technology.

TechAmerica is initiating a series of regular roundtable discussions and is open to anyone in the product management, product development and product marketing disciplines in any TechAmerica member company.

Our first one will be held on Wednesday June 24, 2009 from 8am-10am and is hosted and sponsored by RiechesBaird, located at One Wrigley, Irvine, CA 92618 .

Come along and brainstorm with your peers what they are doing in the current cash strapped environment.  TechAmerica Orange County will set the stage to kick start innovation for you to come ahead of the curve when the economy opens up.

Registration detail coming soon.  To pre-register for this premier TechAmerica Orange Counthy Product Management Roundtable, please contact Yalanda Oglesby at 949-450-1500 x101 or Yalanda.Oglesy@TechAmerica.org.
