September 23, 2008: Oregon Ranks 8th in the Nation in Export of High-Tech Goods
New! Trade in the Cyberstates 2008 examines high-tech trade flows at the national level and tech goods exports for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.  The report shows that nationally, high-tech is the largest merchandise export sector in the United States, with $214 billion in 2007.

June 24, 2008:  Portland Among the Nations Top 10 by High-Tech Manufacturing Employment, Reports AeA
Cybercities 2008 examines the high-tech industry in the nation’s 60 largest metro areas focusing on tech employment, wages, establishments, payroll, employment concentration, and wage differential. The report compares different U.S. regions and delves into the 16 sectors that comprise the high-tech industry for these 60 cities.

Board of Directors Education Committee
is launching a new set of events.
Billed as “Good Governance Matters,” the series will help increase company effectiveness by providing high quality director education through expert panelists, presenters and peer-to-peer director networking.  The AeA believes that good governance makes better companies.  AeA affiliated companies will benefit by having directors equipped with the latest governance information.  Series Details.



AeA Oregon 's Annual Summer Gala -- The Party in the Pinot

On July 26, over 400 of Oregon ’s top technology executives and service providers enjoyed a great evening of networking at the 6th Annual Party in the Pinot.  The event took place at the Oswego Hills Winery in West Linn, OR, and a Silent Wine Auction was held to support the education Robotics programs ORTOP and FIRST.

Guests enjoyed high-caliber networking, music by Patrick Lamb, and back by popular demand, the after dinner Scotch and Cigar Bar.  The event also included remarks by Chris Hansen, AeA's President & CEO, who thanked attendees for their continued support and commitment to AeA; Steve Sharp, Chairman of TriQuint Semiconductor and the AeA Oregon Council Chairman; and Rick Wills, former CEO and Chairman of Tektronix.  The event sponsors included Intel, ESI, Tektronix, CresaPartners, USI Northwest, Ater Wynne LLP, ViaWest, First Tech Credit Union, United Healthcare, and Xerox.

AeA Assumes Leadership of the Annual Oregon Technology Awards Program 
A Re-Launch Dinner was held at clarklewis Restaurant on May 8, 2008.  Approximately 50 of the area's Technology Executives and past winners came together to reinforce the importance of continuing the awards program, and to celebrate the past winners.  The next Technology Awards Program will take place Thursday, May 7, 2009.
